ANDROID MORE FRAGILE THAN APPLE IOS
GadgetPhones.Net, Chief Executive Officer Avast antivirus developer, revealed that Android is a platform that is “wide open” and make Android based tablet users more endangered than the Apple iPad.
When speaking at a press conference at the headquarters of Avast in Prague, Czech Republic, Vince Steckler, a former Head of Asia Pacific, Symantec warned that the Google ecosystem is a ‘threat’ future.
“Android is very open and very easy for viruses to enter there. In contrast to Apple that uses a closed ecosystem,” Steckler said, as quoted from the V3, 18 April 2011. “Currently, Apple surpassed Google in market Android tablet because the tablet is less successful in the market. It is not often that Apple has the best and cheapest products simultaneously,” he said.
However, Steckler said, it does not mean Apple based tools is far more secure than others. “In contrast to the impact made by Apple that if Apple users have a device they do not have to worry about virus attacks. That does not matter, virus makers are not interested in Apple’s operating system because the user is not too much,” he said.
If Apple becomes a very popular device, said Steckler, the condition will be different.
Ondrej Vlcek, Chief Technology Officer Avast adds, the major source of malware today is the site of infection to around 86 percent of attacks are detected Avast. This condition is also compared to changes that occurred three years ago when email was still the main weapon spreading the virus.
“In most cases, sites that have a high legitimacy is often pirated. Generally, there is a gap in the web server and the attacker insert malicious script that will take users to other sites on the Internet,” says Vlcek.
Vlcek said, the advantages of this method is that players can do the updates every day and make malicious code that is different for each user. “This is a great advantage for virus writers because they retain control and dominate the distribution channels they made the virus,” he said. (j.mp/gQ51AC)
